Some planning in advance can help you a lot in preparing healthy meals for your family.
You must plan your meals considering some key foods that can be used with different recipes on other days also. This technique is far much better than preparing all food and once and keep eating that non healthy food all week.
You must separate and refrigerate the part of the food that would be used in the recipes on the following days. Refrigerating the food should be a must if you are going to eat any meal containing eggs or dairy products or meat, poultry and seafood to prevent food borne illnesses.
You can store the foods that are prepared in advance in shallow containers so that it cools more easily in the refrigerator. Use bowls not deeper than two inches to store the food such as stews, puddings and meat slices. Stirring the food as it cools down is necessary.
You must use the refrigerated foods in a day or two. The food should be frozen if you want to use it for a period longer than one or two days. Some people thaw the food in the room temperature instead of refrigerator that leads to food borne illnesses.
You must have seen poultry using the strategy of using leftover as chicken breasts or turkey cutlets. You can cook extra chicken breasts or turkey cutlets in extra quantities that can be refrigerated for use next day after topping up. You may add lettuce and salad dressing to create a tasty Caesar salad with the turkey or chicken cut into strips.
The best dish when it comes to save time is rice. This is the main component of the planned ahead meals as rice dishes can be prepared in a large quantity and use for several days. Use different toppings such as ground beef or ground turkey to tomato sauce and Italian seasoning flavors to make a different delicious meal. You may even fry the rice in a skillet and mix it with a can of shrimp or crab or vegetables and it would result in a completely different meal. You may also create casseroles and soups using left over rice. Moreover, rice is easy to freeze and can be used in different meals to prepare various recipes.
Using these techniques you can easily prepare delicious and nutritious meals in no time. You can now enjoy a delicious meal with your family everyday.
